Your baby’s best friend: Play

Play, which forms a very important role in the development of each baby, takes learning one step forward. Play enables babies to explore objects and the relationship between objects. In Mom’s Land, we look at just how important play is to the development of your baby.

Play contributes to the development of a baby’s many basic skills such as, functionality, imagination, grouping, sorting, etc. Through interaction, play supports baby's mental development, promoting creativity, for example.

Toys are important in play for babies. Rattles, puzzles, musical, moving toys above the crib or bed, toys that can be stacked and can make shapes, differently shaped objects and so-on can all be used in play and enrich your baby's world of imagination.

When you choose toys for your baby, choose toys that are calming and develop practical skills.

When babies play games or are interested in toys, the process is really remarkable. Every game and toy are the beginning of a new story or a new discovery for your child. Creativity and interaction are two important concepts in play that are mutually beneficial for your baby.

Toys and games should help your baby to think and develop practical skills and intelligence. From this point of view, you should either buy simple toys that encourage your baby to be creative, or those that encourage interaction with others.

But you don’t necessarily need to buy toys to encourage your baby to play: you can use suitable objects at home. For example, objects found in the kitchen, such as wooden spoons, can be given to babies of four or five months old under parental supervision, as long as they aren’t sharp and dangerous.

Finally, remember to choose age-appropriate toys and games for your baby. For example, when your baby is two or three months old, you should choose toys that reinforce his/her grabbing, holding and moving abilities. Then, you should gradually go for toys providing hand-eye coordination and the development of motor skills. After that, choose toys that help develop skills in both of these main areas at the same time.

We wish you days full of games where your baby always learns new things while having fun.
