Methods of making children enjoy fruits and vegetables

The consumption of fruits and vegetables plays a rather important role in the physical development of infants. Especially in the period during which they are fed with solid foods after breast milk and liquid baby food, consumption of fruit and vegetables should be made at appropriate quantities and proportions. Before anything else, this is very important for development of bones of the babies.

This week at Mom’s Land, we will find out entertaining and delightful ways of making babies enjoy eating fruits and vegetables.

Pediatricians agree that children develop dislike against some fruits and vegetables whose smell and taste they don’t like. At this point, mothers assumetake on a difficult but enjoying job because in one way or another we have to find a way of making our children enjoy fruits and vegetables. As we explained, this is not an easy job. Almost all mothers have difficulty in this aspect. You should not worry but rather be patient! Your children will learn soon and meals will be an enjoyable time for both of you

What do we need to do?

Your baby, who has learnt to chew from 8th month onwards, can eat fruits and vegetables on their own after the 1st year. At this stage, it is possible to introduce fruits and vegetables and get babies love them. But first you should give your baby a regular habit of eating and drinking before feeding her with fruits vegetables. For example, you can start with those which have pleasant colors and smells. 

You can provide round and long fruits and vegetables that can be easily grasped with their tiny hands and let babies touch and feel them. 

Together with your baby, you can have a look at picture books, which have passed through experts' supervision on this subject, and you can show pictures of fruits and vegetables to her and then call their names together. After a while, she will learn the names of the fruits and vegetables she has seen in the pictures. Your appetite for this kind of vegetables and fruits will increase her appetite as well. In time, you can offer fancy and fun special dishes made of fruits. You can do the same for vegetables which can be eaten raw. Pleasant table tops, activities or enjoyable menus will draw their attention.
