Things you should care for the development of your baby’s skeleton

Pediatricians, who underline that babies could have a healthy skeleton structure with regular intake of breast milk, draws our attention to the importance of calcium for the baby’s bones. In this context, let us emphasize the importance of breastfeeding once more. However, breastfeeding is not enough. In addition to that, they need to get a certain amount of Vitamin D regularly every day.

There are several ways of giving vitamin D to our babies. One of them is vitamin preparations given to the babies externally between ages 0 and 2. Let us underline that you need to consult your doctor and obtain his/her advice for this purpose. 

As mentioned above, Vitamin D supplementation is made with preparations especially made for babies, which you can obtain with doctor’s advice.  In addition to that, when the baby is at chewing stage, you should give her food containing vitamin D.

Foods which are rich in protein such as fish oil, eggs, milk and dairy products, potatoes, etc. can be prepared and dispensed in the form of purees for infants who are at chewing stage. Besides, it is necessary to benefit from the sun as well.  In this regard, experts suggest that you take your baby out approximately for an hour. You should apply protective moisturizer and cream to baby’s skin to protect her and have her wear a hat so that she will not be exposed to direct sunshine. You should also let her consume plenty of water. This will contribute to the development of teeth and jawbone as well.

Another suggestion for bone development is basic sportive movements that your baby can make with your help. Regularly two times a day, mornings and evenings, you can lay your baby on her back and move her hands and legs up and down and right to left without forcing too much. This will help their growth in general in addition to helping the development of bones and muscles. If you make these exercises before general care in the morning and before sleep in the evening, your baby will get extra relief.

When babies are at the stage of crawling, they will desire to move a lot and they will spend all their energy to move their muscles. You should ensure their safety and let them try to move, crawl and walk.
